Pickleball
The sport of the future! Pickleball is a fun, low impact, and exciting sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and ping pong. It is played on a court the size of a badminton court, with a low net similar to tennis, and with what looks like an oversized ping pong paddle and a whiffle ball. You’re only allowed to serve underhand and both the serve and the return have to bounce before you can start volleying.
WHAT YOU NEED TO PLAY PICKLEBALL
All you really need is a pickleball paddle, a ball, and a net, to play Pickleball. You can buy a starter set of two wooden paddles and four balls for as little as $19.99, then move up to a composite or performance paddle as you improve.
Pickleball Central can help you choose the paddle and you can find other great resources on the Royal Pickleball and USA Pickleball sites.
Call the Park Forest Tennis & Health Club at 708-481-6060 for more information on Pickleball lessons, leagues, equipment, and court rental for the indoor season.
